Computational Analogy-making in Designing: a Process Architecture
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper presents a model of computational analogymaking in designing based on the notion of situated similarity. Situated similarity is the idea that the relationship between two concepts is dependent not only on what the agent knows about those concepts but also on the way the agent is looking at them. Analogymaking is modelled as three interacting processes: formulation, matching and mapping. The model is developed and then its implications for developing situated analogy-making systems in design are discussed.

In this paper the designing products of B.A. Sophomore students of architecture in TehranUniversity who were divided into two kinds of learning namely technical and skill-based learning. In technical learningthe subjective steps of creativity process i.e. "insight", "preparation", "incubation", "intuition", and "verification"were discussed and it was suggested that these steps cannot be taught ...
متن کاملInterpretation-driven mapping: A framework for conducting search and rerepresentation in parallel for computational analogy in design
This paper presents a framework for the interactions between the processes of mapping and re-representation within analogy-making. Analogical reasoning systems for use in design tasks require representations that are open to being reinterpreted. The framework, Interpretation Driven Mapping, casts the process of constructing an analogical relationship as requiring iterative, parallel interaction...
متن کاملThe Place and Influence of Intuition in the Creativity of the Architecture Designing Process
The work of architecture is believed to depend on the governing thought in the process of architectural designing. This thought can be analyzed, developed, experienced, and interpreted. Creativity is the only domineering force in the idea of designing which is in quest for freeing architecture from the routine methods, and also finding the novel systems to answer the questions in architecture. ...

E-readiness is one of the major prerequisites for effective implementation of e-government. For the correct implementation of e-government, it is needed to accurately assess the state of e-readiness in desired community. In this regard, there are models to assess, but the correct choice of model is one of the most important challenges in this area. The process of evaluating and selecting the ap...
